1#. Walk the city of Limenas and feel the vibe of the island
Limenas is the heart of Thassos. It is the place where you will find the vibe of the island, a lively city with many choices in beaches, and food but also in entertainment and nightlife. It is a cosmopolitan city that has nothing less than the other Greek islands, full of shops, taverns, restaurants, beach bars, and cultural treasures. 2#. Visit the archeological treasures of Thassos
On the hill above Limenas, you will find the ancient city of Thassos, which dates back to 700 BC. The ancient market is next to the museum, behind the ancient port. It was a commercial, cultural and religious center of Thassos. Following a cobbled road you will be led to the Ancient Theater of the 5th century BC, while a little further north is the Acropolis with the remains of the temples of Athena and Pythian Apollo.
Furthermore, you should visit the Archaeological Museum of Thassos, it’s the most important museum in Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, as it has an exhibition of 2376 sq.m. with 18 rooms and 1700 exhibits from the 7th century BC. until the 7th century AD The most impressive is the kouros with 3.5 meters height, the statue of Hadrian, Pegasus and relief representations. It is 2 km from Iliomagic, reachable on foot in 20 minutes.

6#. Get lost in the narrow streets of the traditional village of Panagia
The village of Panagia is one of the most beautiful places on the island of Thassos, it is a green, picturesque village built in the mountains overlooking the plain and the sea. It is an entire attraction since due to its rapid tourist development, it was characterized as a traditional settlement (in 1978) with predetermined building specifications to protect its traditional character. There, in its wonderful picturesque narrow streets, you will be led to the fountain of love and to the old imposing plane trees that form a heart in its center. Don’t forget to visit the church of Panagia from where the village took its name, and the museum of olives and olive oil to learn about the way it is produced. It is 8 km from Limenas and Iliomagic, about 10 minutes ride by car.
7#. Swimming in Chrysi Ammoudia and walk in Skala Potamias
One of the most famous beaches on the island, Chrysi Ammoudia is only 13 km away from Limenas. It is worth swimming in its waters and enjoying your afternoon swim there. After the sunset time, take your walk at Skala Potamias reaching the picturesque old port and the traditional building of Tarsana which is a cultural center and folklore museum. In the area, you will find many shops, taverns, restaurants and beach bars, cafes, and bars.

9#. Visit the Monastery of Archangel Michael
This is the biggest and most famous monastery of Thassos, it is an important pilgrimage. It is built on the edge of a cliff and the view from the courtyard has something of the sky and the sea. 10#. Dive in the Aegean Sea
The clear sea and the calm waters make Thassos ideal for diving. Apart from the beauty of the land, Thassos has a wonderful seabed that you can explore with the help of the diving centers that exist in Thassos, mainly in Pefkari, Potos, Psili Ammos, and Makryammos. All diving centers have specialized staff with extensive experience and have the necessary equipment. You will also go through a shipwreck, which according to legend was shipwrecked during the war with the Turks and will make you feel like a hero from a historical novel in the early 20th century. Professional divers, graduates – members of the international organization PADI (the main diploma awarded at the Master ScubaDiver Rating level) guarantee a safe and exciting diving experience.

It is 42 km from Limenas, about 48 minutes, and you have to walk a short distance. Prefer to go either very early in the morning or in the afternoon, as there is nothing to protect you from the sun.
12# Swimming at the waterfalls in Kefalogourna, visit the stone bridge, and dine at Theologos
Kefalogourna is a hidden paradise in the heart of Theologos, these are three natural troughs that are filled with water with the rains, resulting in the activation of the waterfall and the creation of this new impressive natural attraction, which quickly became one of the top spots on the island. Another important point of reference in the village of Theologos is the old stone bridge, which is one of the sights of the island and is part of its cultural heritage. It is a sample of traditional architecture in excellent condition and is very easily accessible to visitors of Theologos.
The village is also famous for its good food, skewers, and goat, so arrange your visit before your meal. Theologos is 52 km from Limenas, an hour’s drive away. Since it is a long ride you can combine it with other attractions that you will find on your way.
13#. Ride the train of joy
The train of joy is a ride in four villages of Thassos, which is a fun experience for both little and big ones. You can choose either the long morning route that will take you to Skala Potamias, Potamia, Panagia and ends at noon at Skala Panagias. Or choose your evening tour in Limenas.

14#. Hiking on the paths of Thassos or Mountain Ypsario
If you are a lover of the mountain or nature in general, then the island of Thassos will impress you with its beauty and its many routes. The closest route to Limenas is in the direction of the beautiful beaches of Nysteri and Glyfada, it is a short, coastal hike to the west of Limenas with a total distance of 2.5 km.
The most famous route in Thassos is the ascent to Mount Ypsario which starts from the village of Potamia. The top of the mountain reaches a height of 1206 meters, which is essentially the top of Thassos. It is an attraction for every hiker or nature lover. The route is about 6.5 km and is for the most part marked. You will need 3-4 hours for your ascent to the top and 2-3 hours for the descent to Potamia.
You have the option to follow the other route for the descent, which ends in the village of Theologos, where your company can be waiting for you for a cool dip in Kefalogourna (see number 12) and excellent food. Of course, there are many more options for hiking with paths from Panagia to Skala Panagias, from Potamia to Skala Potamias, and from Limenaria to Tripiti or Pefkari.
